Restylane®

What happens to the skin as we age?

  • Young skin is smooth and elastic and contains a lot of hyaluronic acid
  • As we grow older, the skin's ability to attract and retain water is reduced
  • This leads to drier, thinner and more wrinkled skin

What is hyaluronic acid?

  • Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body
  • Hyaluronic acid attracts water, helping to hydrate the skin and gives volume and structure.

Can wrinkles be treated?

  • Lines, wrinkles and folds can be smoothed out by using Restylane®

What about the lips?

  • Restylane® Lipp™ can be used to define the lip line to add volume with a natural result.

And my facial contours?

  • With Restylane® you can add volume to shape the contours of the face, such as the cheek and the chin

I have noticed a loss of skin elasticity and vitality in my face, can this be treated?

  • Restylane® Vital™ revitalises the skin. It restores the hydrobalance and improves elasticity and tone, thereby creating a fresh and natural look

Can something be done with the back of my hands or the décolletage?

  • Restylane® Vital™ can be used for the face, neck, décolletage and the back of the hands. Restylane® Vital™ will make the skin soft and smooth

What is Restylane®?

  • Restylane® is a crystal clear gel based on non-animal hyaluronic acid. Restylane® is produced the Swedish biotechnology company Q-Med AB
  • The Restylane® products are biodegradable, which means that when the gel is broken down it disappears unnoticed from the body

Why Restylane®?

  • More than 10 million treatments have been performed worldwide since 1996
  • Restylane® has through clinical evidence been proven to be safe, effective and long lasting. Q-Med AB continues to invest in research and development in the interests of further improving safety and efficacy
  • Restylane® treatment provides an easy way to stay in control of your looks. It is a quick procedure, with minimal associated downtime. The results of a single treatment can be seen instantly

Are there different Restylane® products for different needs?

  • The Restylane®portfolio comprises a range of products for facial beauty treatments, designed specifically to reduce the appearance of lines, folds and wrinkles, to contour and create volume

Are there any side-effects?

  • Immediately after your Restylane® treatment you may notice swelling, redness, minimal discomfort and bruising. All are completely normal following an injection and will usually resolve within a very short period of time
  • These reactions typically resolve spontaneously
  • Other type of local reactions occur but are rare

How is a wrinkle treatment done?

  • The crystal-clear gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts
  • This creates volume under the wrinkle that is lifted up and smoothed out

How is a lip treatment done?

  • The gel can be injected along the lip line to emphasize the contour or directly into the upper and/or lower lip for more volume

How long to does a Restylane® treatment take?

  • A treatment session takes about 30 minutes
  • No prior skin test is necessary which means the treatment can be done instantly
  • Results will be seen immediately

Do I need pain relief?

  • Pain relief is generally not necessary but is easy to arrange. A topical anaesthetic is usually enough.
  • If the lips are treated pain relief is recommended

How long will it last?

  • Restylane® products are long lasting but not permanent
  • Many choose to have a follow up treatment 6 to 12 months after the initial treatment of wrinkles
  • When the lips have been treated a follow-up treatment is normally needed after about 6 months

What will I look like immediately after a treatment?

  • After treatment slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation can be expected
  • These symptoms are temporary and typically resolve spontaneously

When should I come back?

  • To achieve the best possible result a touch-up treatment within 2-4 weeks may be necessary. This will also increase the duration of the treatment
  • When a follow-up treatment is performed a smaller amount of product is normally required
